Yoga Journal Talent Search....Picture Vote

Yoga Journal magazine is having a talent search, where they are calling to all yogi's to take a picture of themselves in their favorite yoga pose, and provide some inspiration on why yoga inspires them. The winner with the most votes will be asked to model in their September magazine.

This spoke to me (even though practicing yoga is completely not competitive), the idea of being a yoga journal model spoke to my childhood dream of becoming a model, so I just had to submit a picture.

So, I'd love your vote! You can vote as often as you like, limited to once a day. So feel free to vote often. :) Also, my husband who has been practicing yoga with me lately as a guinea pig during my yoga teacher training, submitted a photo. Wouldn't it be cute if we were both selected as their finalists! :) So, please vote on him as well.

Please feel free to forward to your friends as well for some extra votes. We'd love all of your support.

Below is the excerpt I submitted with my picture as why yoga inspires me:

Yoga is an experience. Each time I practice yoga, my mind settles, my body releases through each pose (even during goddess pose), and I leave feeling like a new person. I have been inspired by each teacher in a different way and find myself wanting to learn more about different styles, techniques and opportunities (including the non-asana avenues, i.e. experimenting with meditation). In the past 5 years, I've learned to embrace 'OM' and in doing so, I've found my own voice! And I am excited to continue to build my yoga voice, as I started teacher training in Washington D.C. at Tranquil Space in January 2011 and am graduating in April of 2011. I have learned more about what yoga is in the last 3 months than I have for the last 5 year of practicing. I've volunteered teaching chair yoga at Senior citizen homes and regular yoga in libraries in low income areas. These Karma yoga opportunities have been so insightful. Yoga is for everyone will to embrace it. Yoga is the mind, body and spirit, it is all of us. (I moved to D.C. about 8 months ago, and the picture I chose is in front of the capitol building, my favorite landmark of D.C.)
