Yoga at the Bahai Temple

I spent the morning yesterday roaming around the beautiful grounds and fountains of the Baha'i Temple in Wilmette, Illinois. It is 1 of only 7 Baha'i temples in the world at present. The unique circular structure symbolizes unity and the space is dedicated to prayer and meditation. So, when the photographer that took our day after wedding pictures recommended this as the venue for yoga pictures for the website I will be working on soon, I thought it was a perfect venue. I look forward to sharing the pictures with you in a few weeks, and hopefully a website to go with them! Meanwhile, below is a sneak peak from the pictures my husband snagged on his iPhone during the 'photo shoot'.

You can read more about the bahai temple and faith at: http://www.bahai.us/bahai-temple/, but below is a brief summary from their website:

The Baha'i Faith: the oneness of God, the oneness of humanity and the oneness of religion. Baha'i Faith prescribes laws of personal morality and behavior, as well as social laws and principles, to establish the oneness of humanity.
  • the purpose of life is to know and worship God, to acquire virtues, to promote the oneness of humankind and to carry forward an ever-advancing civilization
  • all humanity was created by one God and is part of one human race
  • work performed in the spirit of service is a form of worship
  • independent investigation of truth
  • daily prayer and communion with God
  • a life dedicated to the service of humanity
  • fellowship with the followers of all religions
  • high moral principles, including trustworthiness, chastity and honesty
  • avoidance of materialism, partisan politics, backbiting, alcohol, drugs and gambling
