Yesterday I putzed around the house, but mostly on the computer getting very frustrated with technology. I was trying to link my twitter page to my facebook to my blog and all variations of those links. Communication is key right? Well….I tried (I even had to pull in my husband to help me) …it’s working - sort of. The perfectionist in me is not happy that all of the social media sites are not linking perfectly…..frustration!
BREATHE….
So, I was happy to leave the computer behind and leave with some friends to experience the embassies of DC…it was a European open house of embassies…wow I had no idea what we were getting into.
There were LINES! Who knew so many people would be interested to see inside of embassies and sample some free appetizers of their nation. We decided to NOT wait in any of the long lines, so we sought out some of the smaller countries….we were very lucky to visit two embassies….that I of course now need to plan a vacation too! J
Malta – Small embassy, but as the ambassador said, it is reflective of how small their island is. In the Mediterranean, 60 miles off the coast of Sicily with a warm climate and a history of 7000 years with their culture impacted by the Phoenicians, Romans, Normans, French and British (with many others in between). I was thoroughly impressed with the dedication the ambassador had to personally give a 10 minute presentation to the visitors about the history and culture of their country.
It was a wonderful day be-bopping around Dupont Circle, we even came across a jazz band playing on the Spanish steps! I didn't even know DC had Spanish steps...it was beautiful...a great calm and peaceful place in the city that I could envision going to again with some tea or a picnic. Also, below are some other cute sights I saw on our walk yesterday...
| Happened upon the Spanish steps in the Kalorama neighborhood |
| Found at the base of the Spanish Steps |

I look forward to visiting some other countries embassies again next year....and continuously embracing DC's culture!
