I've been teaching yoga at 7am on Monday and Wednesday at Sport and Health in DC (in case any of you want to join me...it's a brand new class that I am excited to build from the mat up (hah...get it...mat up)). I am actually very happy with the results thus far...I've taught 6 of these 7am classes so far...and my numbers are growing exponentially:
Day 1 - I taught myself
Day 2 - One student accidentally walked in the room around 7:10 and desperate for a student I broke out of my shell and I asked her if she wanted to try yoga...she said YES...and then amazingly a few minutes later someone else walked in - 2 students - wala!
Day 3 - I couldn't believe it ...2 more new faces
Day 4 - WOW...4 students (with 2 repeat students...that's what I am looking for!)
Day 5 - Dropped to 3 students (but with 2 repeat students :))

All in all making progress...Day 6 tomorrow, so we will see how this goes.
So...to the real reason for tonight's post...REAL CREAM CHEESE!!
I thought waking up early for yoga would be a great idea, I could easily commit and I knew work wouldn't get in the way of teaching if I taught before work started. But then yesterday when I had to wake up at 5:30 to make it to teach class by 7am after having moved to a new apartment the past weekend...I was thinking it just wasn't going to work. I was EXHAUSTED!!! I just wanted to sleep on the metro...then I thought I could start the class in savasana (savasana is usually the last pose of class where you lay flat on the mat and relax and breathe allowing your body to soak up all of your efforts from class) and take a little nap myself....OH BOY...am I a bad teacher for thinking that. NO, I didn't start in savasana and I did not take a nap....instead I practiced several poses with the class -- and after teaching an hour class I was feeling good, event my shoulders and hips were opened, I wasn't as drained as when I arrived....a little sunrise yoga does wonders!
As I was leaving the gym to head to work....I noticed it was customer appreciation day with bagels and cream cheese and coffee.....I couldn't resist a bagel...and REAL CREAM CHEESE .... and a coffee with real CREAM ...are you sensing a theme here. REAL ...no low fat, low sugar...just lots of real yummy (and yes probably fattening), but yummy stuff. So, I walked to work, in the rain with my umbrella and bagel & cream cheese in one hand, and my coffee in the other hand...and I was so HAPPY, in my head I was happily skipping to work (even though in reality I was being rained on trying to juggle several things in my hand and walk). Isn't that strange how yoga and real cream cheese can make someone so happy....I was giddy about this feeling all day long!

Ironically, it reminded me of the night before, Sunday night, friends of ours in the building invited us over for some homemade, real ice cream (yes...made from whole milk and cream) with peaches...let me just say YUMMY....I was in heaven when I ate that ice cream too!
So, I apparently had a few moments of food indulgences the past few days.....not worrying about the fat intake or sugar intake and ironically I had no regrets. Maybe my mind just needed a little break from the move weekend...or maybe my body was just craving a little indulgence...but whatever it was...it put me in a great mood for the past few days...so here's to indulging with no regrets (and to real cream cheese sometimes). :)
