Recently, I was given the opportunity to showcase one of my pieces framed in a vintage window at Tranquil Space (on consignment of course...so it could be yours if you absolutely love it).
This opportunity only came about because of yoga, strange right? Well, Tranquil Space is a yoga studio, where I teach and practice. BUT, that's not the only reason I says this. I also feel that yoga has helped me be more vocal, open my conversations up beyond the 'hi, how are you' stage, actually be confident enough to talk about myself, maybe allow someone to peak into my world through conversation. By doing so, I had the opportunity to talk to the studio owner about art and through this find she loves stained glass...especially in vintage windows....and that I had a piece I made about 3 years ago sitting in my closet without a good home. So Viola ..... here it is hanging beautifully in the window...
As I walk into the studio each time, seeing this hang in the window reminds me of how much I loved to make stained glass. Yoga has actually consumed most of my time, in addition to planning a wedding, getting married, moving to DC, starting 2 new jobs, teacher training...LIFE in general. BUT...this is NO excuse. If you have a dream it will only happen if you make small efforts towards it.
So my small effort this month is to sketch some designs for the next stained glass piece I am going to create. I am torn between the sanskrit word for OM, a yoga pose, or maybe my latest infatuation a cherry blossom....tough decisions! Would love to hear if you have any ideas for me!
In the meantime I thought I would share some photos of my favorite stained glass pieces I've made in the past for some beautiful eye-candy:
The first piece that I ever made! |
Lamp shade. Thanks to the wonderful Grandma Margot who was able to find the perfect vintage lamp base and rewire it for me to place this shade on. Will cherish forever. |
Actually a piece I made from several 'scraps' of glass with glass goblets. It was a fun piece to make, and the hubby really likes it, so it's a keeper. :) |
