Today is the first day of spring, officially. Although mother nature has been treating us very well (at least in the Washington DC area), with some beautiful spring weather since February. Coming from the Midwest (near Chicago) and only recently being transplanted to the DC area, 70 degree's and the potential to wear flip flops is usually unheard of until after Easter.... after all, it usually snows at least once after Easter. So, I hope that little background on me (including that I use to hibernate for about 8 months out of the year due to cold, wind, snow, ice, etc) helps to explain my recent INFATUATION with Cherry Blossoms!!
I know...this sounds crazy, after all they are only tree's. It's not that I haven't seen beautiful trees in bloom before, but for some reason the abundance of them at the Tidal Basin have me completely mesmerized.
I was obsessed with leaving work yesterday...I just had to see them with sun in full bloom (because on Sunday when we went the sky was overcast)....and I am so HAPPY I did. I arrived just in time for sunset.
I absolutely encourage you to find something beautiful about your spring to mesmerize yourself with....it can really make your spring a memorable, joyous experience. Maybe take a few pictures, create a collage, send it to a friend, save it as your background on your computer....celebrate your blooming gorgeous spring!
