#PHOTOADAYAPRIL

#PHOTOADAYAPRIL

During the month of April, I took part in the #PHOTADAYPRIL photo challenge, created by fat mum slim. I've always admired photographers and like to consider myself an amateur photographer (really, I just pretend I have some skill) ... mostly, I enjoy catching glimpses of moments in time. There is something about a picture that ignites emotions with just a glance; and for my forgetful memory, pictures are a great way for me to track my life.

Trying to get that picture perfect almost unreal shot through a lens (of a smart phone) and filters (of the wonderful Instagram application) often times can look so much better than with your own eyes, maybe an illusion or our need for a perceived perfection (pure bliss anyone?)

What was so great about the photoadayapril challenge was the real every day glimpses the prompts above allowed For. Not everything was rainbow and flowers (but some were flowers, because they are so beautiful and picturesque for springtime)....some were very  thought provoking (what makes you sad, how you feel, something you don't like, what you are grateful for).

The challenge created an opportunity and reason to open my eyes, be aware of my surroundings through a new lens. You may walk the same path everyday and all of a sudden something hits you in a different light or frame of reference. Capturing the everyday. (reminded me of the concept of Be in the Moment)

The challenge triggered me to take even more pictures of my every day moments aside from specific prompts, helped me realize what I truly have to be grateful for and how much beauty we can find in what we otherwise might think is mundane everyday.

A BIG part of me wants to do this photoaday again this month ....it is completely addictive.... but... so I don't burn myself out on my be infatuation or my twitter & facebook followers, I think I'd like to try this again in a few months. If you decide after this post you are completely obsessed with the idea of a photaday, check out the #PHOTOADAYMAY hashtag in twitter or facebook.

One final note, I am so happy I decided to do this photoaday challenge in Springtime, it was such a perfect time to experience life to the fullest, with the flowers and nature being reborn, seeing the light and beauty in fresh perspectives. I think it will be very interesting to see how the photoaday challenge is in the winter.

I encourage you to challenge yourself to take at least one picture a day, find the beauty in your everyday!
