MAY dreams come true

Setting goals and intentions for each month has been a great new addition to my life (in addition to art journaling a page to help me prioritize visually what I want the month to feel like). It helps to stay focused on the big picture of my long-term goals I crafted in the new year.

Each time I set my monthly goals, I re-review my new year plan to determine am I on the path I need to be, in order to be successful, especially considering we are 1/3rd through 2012!

Identifying a few things I can do over the next 30 days (and really, realistically complete), has been a great tool to keep me forging forward on my path. In addition, sharing them with the webiverse (twitter, facebook, blog readers, etc), helps to hold me accountable for my actions (As I have all of YOU to explain to, if I don’t hold up my end of the bargain).

BUT, being able to re-evaluate what is realistic and allow myself some forgiveness if I’m not meeting my initial goals as I had expected is CRUCIAL. After all, life throws you curve balls sometimes that we don’t anticipate. Hopefully, this explains a bit why my goals this month are less tangible as in the past and are geared more towards themes I’d like to hold in my heart and mind as I travel through the days of May.

  1. Stay grounded and focused
    • I’ve allowed my calendar in April and May to become completely OVERLOADED (a few times even doubled booked!) with tons of lovely events I really want to be a part of and yet I didn’t do a good job of scheduling down time and self-care. At times, intentions require significant actions ~ so here goes for a busy May!
  2. Bring Breath and Depth
    • Amidst all of the minutia of day-to-day I plan to bring breath and depth into each of my appointments to truly bring and take away something meaningful from each experience vs. checking the box. Be in the moment!
  3. TT 500 Private Yoga THESIS
    • Gather all of my research and begin to write thesis paper
  4. Authentic blog posts
    • One a week providing informative ‘yogatwistonlife’ meaning to YOU
  5. Create a morning creative practice
    • (listen to Kimberly Wilson's podcast for more tips on creativity)
    • Splitting my morning practices between these buckets:
      • Practice Yoga & Meditation
      • Exercise ~ preparing for half marathon
      • Art ~ art journal, stained glass OM sign
      • Learning & Sharing ~ Thesis, Blog posting & planning classes
  6. A Short Trip to Maryland for an overnight get-a-way to visit a local winery
  7. Be OK with putting my other goals on HOLD
