May Moments

I hope your May brought you a few moments of happiness and joy with friends and family, especially with a beautiful (steamy hot) memorial day weekend. Some of my favorite moments (and recommendations) of May are captured below.

Over memorial day weekend we visited Maryland for a short get-a-way and had a very Foliage type weekend visiting Ladew Gardens and on our return to DC roaming around the Botanical gardens. Nature has such an awe inspiring effect on me, words can't even describe...but hopefully a few pictures can say what a thousand words could not:

Ladew Gardens which is famously known for its Topiaries!
I'm infatuated with that word and the carved bushes!!! They have about 20 different unique gardens with an enormous variety of flowers, trees, Topiary bushes, ponds, and Lotus flowers (I think this was my 1st time seeing a lotus flower in person!).
 (about 1.5 hours from D.C.)

US National Arboretum was a wonderful surprise. They have over 150 plants in their Bonsai collection, which was amazing. Some of the bonsai trees have been in training since the 1600s! The grounds also hold the original columns of the Capitol and a beautiful Herb and Flower garden, in addition to what seemed like miles of winding roads of gardens and trees, with an area overlooking the anacostia river as well. Would be a great place for a long walk or run (not on a 90 degree day though...so we drove)

Other fun May Moments, filled with lots of walking, rainy moments, vegan eating, spending as much time outside on the balcony or roof as possible, time with friends and date nights with Adam (check out the Mansion in Dupont), art journaling (had fun making my mom an art journal pictured below) and lots of yoga (not pictured below).

To a beautiful May!
