| One of my favorite pictures from our September wedding |
Just in the short week and half that we've been living in Louisville, I've learned that my main focus over the next month(s) will be patience. Patience with myself, with the process of owning a home, fixing things, purchasing big items, meeting people, finding work, building a community.....oh, the list goes on. Nothing happens overnight. Just like one can not walk into a yoga class for the first time and expect to be able to do every yoga pose on Day 1; what we can count on is mistakes, falling, learning, growing and building upon a solid foundation.
So, I wish to mindfully and with patience work through September's goals (which will likely be my goals for the next several months):
- Begin working with the exercises in the book The Artist's Way ~ discovering your creative self
- Explore Louisville's creative shopping options for perfect new/vintage home items
- Antique stores
- Resale Shops
- Yard/Garage Sales
- Visit Yoga Studios ~ At least one a week to explore the Yoga cOMmunity and introduce myself
- Seek Yoga Teaching Opportunities
- Organize & Decorate our house to make it our HOME
- Create Stained Glass windows for our living room
- Paint the Basement floor
Buy a car-- We did yesterday!
- Embrace the beauty of Louisville through grounding walks (aka: train for Disney Half Marathon)
- One form of Exercise daily
- Yoga
- Leisurely Bike around the city on my new~vintage bike
- Walk/Running
It's never too late to set goals for your month....it truly does help to ground me in what is realistic to accomplish and helps to focus my efforts during my days and evenings. Have you set your goals yet?

Love the wedding pic! So fun and artistic! Happy anniversary! T.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I was super grateful for a friend recommending Gleam Photography out of Chicago. She is amazing!
DeletePaFuss & I were 23 when we bought our 1st house...which was actually a 2flat...Yep, Instant Landlords! We barely knew how to change a light bulb (if if was in a high up place!)...in 1991 we bought our first "home"...single family - totally vintage - needed EVERYTHING. I remember standing by the kitchen sink (just after moving in) and crying for 2 days....By 1991 we were purchasing 30' of scaffolding and learning how to tuck point a 2 1/2 story brick building!!! It only took an entire summer, but After that - it all seemed simple! Imagine that! Adam and you have already taken the bull by the horns, had a "board meeting" & everything. It's going to be a LOVELY HOME for you both and any little ones that come along !!! CONGRATULATIONS & Love you both LOTS, Mom
ReplyDeleteHi mom! Thank you for your encouragment....and all of your advice. I'm grateful you and Pa have been through this a *few* times already...it's comforting knowing you are a phone call away. :)
