Embracing 2013 ~ Asking Deep Questions

Preparing to reflect on 2012 & Dream for 2013
I went to the hair salon last night and was a bit taken aback when the lovely girl asked me a series of questions I was not prepared for....Do you LIKE your hair? What is your favorite thing about your hair? What about your hair do you receive the most compliments for? ..... I had NO IDEA how to answer any of these questions. If you notice...none of the questions were about 'what I didn't like' or what I wanted to change. It was an optimistic approach creating an invitation to be happy with myself. Pretty deep stuff for a hair appointment!!

I left there equating their approach to how to think about the new year. It's not about giving up something in the new year. It's not about regretting everything we didn't do in the previous year that we wish we did or about making grandiose unrealistic expectations we are sure to disappoint our ego with.

Ask yourself Deep Questions:
What Qualities & Values do you want to see in 2013?
&
What are your 5 Daring Dreams for 2013?
It's about Dreaming, Embracing, Asking our self serious, deep questions....questions that might scare us because we don't have the 'right' answer...or as with my hair appointment...something we haven't really thought about at all. This year I decided to use a guided approach to setting myself up for the 'Best Year of my Life' by Tina of Tickled Pink Woman. If you are interested in her phenomenal approach to re-thinking the normal 'new year resolution', check out her e-workbook on 'Making your Dreams Real'.

Simply Grow = 2013 Mantra
A new concept I am excited to embark on in 2013 is living by a guiding Mantra for the year. For several weeks I've been hoping to SIMPLIFY my life. I was absolutely sure that SIMPLIFY was going to be my mantra for the year....but as I embarked on Tina's reflection process....I've uncovered a modified take on this original thought. It's not that I want to 'simplify' per say ..but that I want to make space in my life for things I love, things I want to learn and share in order to grow as both a wife, daughter, yogi, yoga teacher, friend.....motivated individual longing for lasting wisdom.

One year from now, I hope to have accomplished, created, explored.....
  • Simply
    • Bring spaciousness into my life
    • Say 'No' more ~ don't over commit
    • Embrace blank space in my day and my calendar

  • Embark on creative pursuits with my husband ~ take a painting, photography or cooking class
