#My Yoga Weekend ~ Partner Yoga & Inversions

It's been a fun filled yoga weekend! I have really been having a blast integrating yoga into my EVERYDAY, even if in small increments. Obviously I adore hour + classes, but sometimes my life, especially during year-end accounting season, does not coincide with my dream of an hour class everyday. So, this month's #MyYoga challenge has been a great opportunity to explore yoga outside of attending a class at a studio.

Tip 1: Just a few poses....feels soooo good!

After work on Friday I had time for a 25 minute workout. So, I chose to spend 15 minutes on the treadmill working towards my 1/2 marathon training....and the last 10 minutes, I stole a corner of my gym to practice a few yoga poses. I have to admit this short 25 minute workout did the TRICK to help center me...ground me...return me to my breath....and released my work day. I was able to let go of the stress...get in the car to go home...and really be in my current moment vs the many moments of the work day.

Tip 2: Trust in Someone
Saturday evening, my husband and I taught a Partner Yoga class. My husband is not a yoga teacher or an avid yogi, I say that because if my husband can do yoga....anyone can, especially when it's partner yoga. Partner yoga provides an opportunity to build trust and engage in a compassionate, playful practice together. Key word = TOGETHER.

My favorite aspects of partner yoga:

* Spend an evening with hubby
* Breath together
* Exciting invigorating poses to experiment with
* Hands on assists to give each other, especially in Savasana
* Fall over together & try again to succeed

These pictures of hubby & I are playing on the new Louisville walking bridge that recently opened connecting Louisville to Indiana. Excited to explore this bridge's view more over the next few months as I'm training for the April Nashville 1/2 Marathon.

Tip 3: Just do it! Fly!

Inspired by a class I took today at Infinite Bliss in Louisville  The teacher showed a unique way of getting into handstand by springing up with frog like legs, landing in baddha konasana type legs. It's awesome!!! If you've never tried it...go ahead and fly!

Also, demonstrated above on the left is Galavasana...one of my new favorite arm balances.

What are some of your favorite ways to bring yoga into your weekend?
