Post Run Yoga

Hubby & I are training for the Nashville Half Marathon....so you might notice that #myyoga focus has had quite a bit of focus on post gym workouts or post walk/run yoga and stretching. As I begin to pick up my mileage so that 13.1 miles does not seem so CRAZY and hopefully is an enjoyable experience....I long for yoga & stretching post exercise.

Post workout stretching feels oooooh soooo good!

Low Lounge with a gentle back bend ~ arms reaching overhead with thumbs intertwined --
great hip flexer stretch, but also amazing shoulder stretch

It can be really great to share your yoga/stretching with a friend, loved one, spouse or partner. Try listening to each other's breath as you move through poses together. Listening to the waves of the breath can help to build and create a deep connection and bond with each other.

Try spending just a few moments together on the mat moving through a series of lunges, down dogs...and a few hip openers, like double pigeon. Hey....why not throw in a loving kiss!

Today's practice ~ 10 minutes:

  • Down Dog
  • Lunge
  • Runners Stretch (straight front leg) to Lunge (bend in front knee) - 4x
  • Low lunge, back knee down, arms up over head
  • Double pigeon
  • Bridge

P.S....tomorrow is hubby & my 3rd year anniversary!!
Happy 3 crazy, yoga & run/walking filled years to my Hubby!!

What are some of your favorite ways to stretch post run or walk? Have you thought about integrating your favorite exercise with your friend or partner in life?

  1. I stretch after every workout. I'm absolutely sold on it--honestly, I've come to crave it--truly it's the cherry on top! :)
